Located just two hours from Denver International Airport (one hour flight and another hour by car) is the lovely and charming Inn of the Anasazi in the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. This is a perfect respite for a romantic weekend or extended vacation.

With its sandstone walls, sculpted stairways, indoor stone fountains, and tastefully adorned rooms, it is easy to see why the inn has won so many awards including the Mobil Four Star and AAA Four Diamond. The property is situated just off the main public square and is within easy walking distance to retail shops, art galleries and restaurants.

The rooms were magnificent with four poster Englander beds that provided what can only be described as a luxurious and relaxing sleeping experience. Handcrafted furniture, a gas lit fireplace and natural fabrics were all part of the inn’s southwestern appeal. Then there were the little details that set apart the property from many others where I have stayed. Each night, instead of a mint on my pillow, the staff provided freshly made cookies next to my bed. Weather reports were also given for the following day and a humidifier provided a comfortable night’s rest.

With so many restaurants in Santa Fe, I was pleasantly surprised to find that some of the best food was just down the hall in the inn’s restaurant. Each morning, the restaurant had a juice of the day (loved their fresh kiwi-strawberry) along with a variety of mouth-watering entrees. Lunch and dinner are also treats with dishes like grilled tortilla and lime soup, five-spice seared Ahi tuna and cinnamon-chile rubbed beef medallions.

Staying at the Inn of the Anasazi is like going back in time to an ancient pueblo that blends the best of Native American, Hispanic and Anglo cultures. The staff is well-trained, friendly and willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that your stay will be memorable.
