The newly opened J.W. Marriot Denver at Cherry Creek is offering weekend packages to seniors throughout March. The $40M hotel property will provide guests age 62 and over a concierge level room that includes breakfast, afternoon refreshments and a shopping passport valid for discounts at more than 65 area shops and restaurants. Called The March Madness Senior Weekend package the price is $139 per night-a $50 savings over the regular rate.
My wife and I recently visited this AAA Four-Diamond hotel that is set in the heart of Clayton Lane, a new shopping and entertainment district across from the Cherry Creek Mall. Crate and Barrel, Orvis and Bob’s Steak and Chophouse are all just steps away from the Marriot.

Our room was quiet, comfortable and came with a 32” flat-screen television, DVD/CD player, mini-bar and even plush bathrobes. Guests can also enjoy their fitness center, two outdoor hot tubs and a sundeck.
Their on-site restaurant, Mirepoix was also awarded the Four Diamond Award thank to the efforts of their executive chef, Gil Hitzler. The name “Mirepoix” is derived from a cooking term that means a mixture of carrots, onions, celery used to flavor stocks, sauces and soups. The ambiance of Mirepoix is also unique with décor that includs a contemporary built-in wine wall illuminated by strobe lights that change from melon orange to lime green to cobalt blue.
We enjoyed a romantic dinner that featured fresh bread, an appetizer and short ribs with molasses. The meat was tender and sweet and delicious. Their well trained staff was very attentive and didn’t allow our water glasses to drop below ¾ full . Their new menu will feature dishes such as roasted wild sea bass, sherry glazed chicken breast and white pepper crusted venison loin.
